How did YOU become furry? =)

Welp. I can distinctly remember how at 6/7 I was addicted to Franklin the Turtle. After that, it was Sonic, then Starfox, then here.

I was desperate for a community, any community other than bronies, then i discovered furries, i was hooked from there.

I was born a furry, I always loved anthro characters and transformations (from Disney), but I never told anyone about it. I didn't have any access to internet at that time, so I had to imagine all of it in my mind. I finally got my own computer at the age of 11 but didn't have any internet access 'till the following year. It's only in 2009 I had the idea to look up anthro art on the internet and got really interested in it.

Welllll, wayyyyy back when I kind of had a fursona but had no idea what a furry even was... or that they existed for that fact xD.  So several years later, my best friend (who's a furry) convinced me to buy a tail from Hot Topic.  So I bought it, wore it around, denied all comments that I was a furry, but I eventually gave way and started to think,

"Well you love wolves, you love(d) drawing wolves, why not go for it and see what happens?"

So one day, I think I got up and decided I'd declare myself an official furry.  In all essence then, only in the past year or so have I officially been a furry .  and even more so now that I have a nice faux fur tail to go with my collar (and new one that's coming in soon!).  Plus my fursona, which I finally finished two days ago .

First encounter of Furrieness was on CSI. I watched the episode and was >.</ meh, i don't care what people do in thier bed.
Then, while i was brousing the KSP forum, a person Mentioned Moonshot Rocket. I was kinda weirded out by the picture, but was like, whatever.
THIS VIDEO CAUSED ALL MY SUGGS TO GO RENARDMODE.
(Couple months of playing TF2, runnning into comminuity addons mounted so that players look like Pony/furry)
Then, a couple months later, i was fed up by getting "Murder" By Mayhem. I watched it, Knowing what a furry is, and jsut kinda muttered and realized i wanted to a be a furry, something tugged inside then, knowign i already was.

Hmmm. Well I have always been interested in animals and I was always the nature type. You know, always outside and playing with bugs and trying to catch snakes. Growing up I also always loved Sonic The Hedgehog games. Knuckles was always my favorite ^.^
I always liked to pretend to be animals. Acting like them and making their noises. As time went on and I got older and started going on the internet, I found anthro art and instantly fell in love with it. I also started learning more about animals, and connected with the species of my fursona c:

That's an odd question but not in many ways.

Let's see, I was always one of those kids with their heads in the clouds and even from a young age, looking at other people admiring girls at the schoolyard...I didn't see it. Nowadays, I can see some people as beautiful,  but there's some weird thing about my fellow humans that ours me off.

I always liked animals. Played video games starring animals leads since me wee laddyhood and watched my fair share of Saturday cartoons. My first crush was Lola Bunny as a kid, later moving to Rouge the Bat and other awesome people of fur. Sly Cooper? Dreamboat. Klonoa? Can't get cuter. Channing Tatum? Meh.

I became a furry because I felt furry, like the way some furries say that they feel like animals inside. I'm actually happy to say that I felt comfort in finding out about this fandom, since it let me know that I'm no crazier than a million other AWESOME artists and writers.

Thy vary in so many ways I wouldn't be surprised if this fandom grew 50% bigger then it is now in the next year! Imagine how many people will attended anthrocon then....the numbers are HUGE! We definitely would not be a fandom in the dark of the internet anymore!

I've always harbored an affinity for animals, particularly cats. Until I was around 11 years old I would often spontaneously don a makeshift cat costume and decide I was going to be a feline for the day, doing things like drinkng out of bowls of milk or only communicating in meows. Thus, I've always sort of been one.


In middle school I became incredibly involved in the Sonic community, which inadvertently lead to my interest in the furry community. At first, I was afraid of seeming weird to my friends, most of whom hated furries, and being young, I was put off by all of the maturity and common beliefs that it is simply a fetish. Overtime, I was able to see past the rumours [as well as get better friends], and became more comfortable with my new identity. I've considered myself a furry for about two years now.

Furrydom was something I found later on, but it's a result of something else. When I was a kid, I was really, really mean and nasty to people. Cruel as I could be to anyone I felt deserved it. I ended up picturing that cruelty as somebody else, sharing my body with me to keep my mind off the trouble I caused. I thought of him as many things that are normally viewed as 'disgusting' creatures. I figured it wasn't like a human to be so cruel, so I created this rat-like thing that I wanted to believe all this cruel, terrible behavior came from.


I got better, but I ended up keeping this character around and changing him as I did. I'm older, much less of an asshole, and that creature became my fursona when I discovered furries. I still draw him as he first "appeared" every now and then, just to keep him fresh in my mind.

I guess I've just been interested in anthro animals since I can remember. My favorite tv characters tend to be anthro, and... I don't know. I guess it just kinda happened on it's own. And then I found out that there are a lot of other people like me, and that we had a name for it. So.... yeah.

I was following this dude with a floofy tail into a dark alleyway and someone handed me a cookie the next thing I knew I woke up with a tail and ears o.o

Hmm, well, I started by looking at Transformation art, (Always found those interesting) and then saw one where the human turned into anthro. I was captivated and immediately wanted to be one. Not to mention all through my childhood I would watch disney animal cartoons with anthros in them, and ALWAYS wanted to be one. After discovering this forum, my fursona has begun to grow!
