How did YOU become furry? =)

Well fire kitty I say to you. Good luck, and make sure you don't act like your hidding it because if you do and they find out they/she are going to think your doing something wrong. Act like it is who you are and not what you have done or become. I almost messed up telling my family because I hid it for a while and they thought I was doing something wrong. But my family has come to realize that it is who I am and that's ok.

Well my last name is Wolff so i've always identified with the animal. I'm also native american so i have a strong respect and love for nature. It's all i decorated my room/personal space with. Me and my cousin both and we'd play as if we were wolves or had a wolf pack as pets. I always identified with the wolf it gave me the chance to be everything i wanted to be without all the negative. It was where i could be my best. I could be strong, cunning, strong, secure in myself. I guess i always knew i was a furry i was just afraid of what people would think and amazingly everyone is very accepting i love it. Feels very good to be open about it. It's always been a dream of mine and i'm making it happen

I know right  . i'm excited to get some ink done i already have one drawin up. I want sleeves with a bear on one and a wolf on the other to symbolizes me and my parents.

I always respected animals and cared for them so I guess that had a role in me being a furry. I always loved games that had you playing as a cartoon animal and I liked how animals can be given human characteristics so I guess that's a big reason why I am a furry. I also liked all of my characters to be animals so I guess I am just used to it already.

I had always loved werewolves/ wolves. I just felt almost spiritually connected, and didn't know why. I found the furry fandom like last month and joined this forum. Finding all these other people that are like me makes me feel like I have another family.

I think I had the furryness in me from all the animal cartoons and Disney movies as a kid, but the first time I felt a connection with them was when I was like 12 and had not watched those cartoons in a while. While leaving to go to the bathroom in a computer lab I saw this image on a friends computer screen and got a good feeling deep in my bones. Soon I started googling for other human like animals before I even knew there was a big fandom surrounding it.

I think it's a comic. Or it could be a game I don't realy know. Looks like a fun whatever it is though. So arcain..when did you decide to join us? When did you find the word furry?

I think I was thirteen, it kept coming up all over the place so I looked it up, lucky for me the wikipedia article wasn't terrorised at the time or else I may have thought it was wrong.

i grew up with tom and jerry and i always thought being a cat in real life would be awesome and i became obssesed with cats as i grew up so did the obbsession then when i was like 14 i heard of furries and was like what the hell are they talking about looked it up and it all connected in my head at one point

I've always had an affinity with spaniel dogs and my being respected as a leader among my friends and family, was nicknamed "Lion"; hence, my Liondog fursona which feels really comfy and at home with me.

Well, when I was about 5, I got a Gameboy Advance for Christmas, and Super Mario Bros. 3 to play with it. I hope I don't need to explain this, but Mario 3 has this power up that gives you raccoon ears and a tail, as well as the famous Tanooki Suit. To me, that game was like magic, and I think that's where my furriness started.
Another game that was a big part of my childhood was Drawn to Life, which had fox-like people called Raposa. I still hold that game high in regard.
I used to have a cat, and my remember my whole life wishing I could be a cat too. I think a bit of my personality is cat-like because of that.
I also used to watch a lot of cartoons, and you know how that works in relation to furriness.

Certainly would explain why I like foxes, cats, and tanukis so much.
