How did YOU become furry? =)

Eversince I was a young kid I was always more interested and connected to animals than I was to people. I think my affiliation with dragons began when I was in junior high school and I was into the show Gargoyles by Disney. From there to the now it was just an emotional rollercoaster and a matter of admitting to a certain inner spirit that possesses me that I am just one child to a planet of wonders and that life is too short for me to let silly people stand between me and my happiness. And I believe there is no better wish or accomplishment greater achieved than a persons wellness of health, safety, and happiness.

I Started to look at furry art, and i was just like "Wow thats amazing". So over the past years i have been getting deeper into it.

I Can Happily lay the blame on two things

An addiction to Pokemon Snap (I still have an awsome pic of charmander )

And the Movie oliver and company EEEK that is sutch an adorable movie *Cough* Sorry i get a little Zelious sometimes

So I then spent most of my "Furry time" for the absense of a better phrase. Fawning over drawings by my fav Artists,  and creating Half-Human Half-Animal Races In D & D

I just loved Beast from Disney's Beauty and The Beast. All my friends were so glad over the "happy ending", I got devastated when he turned into a human. I think he just looked tons better as Beast.

I loved animals, cartoons with furry characters, I drew them. So, 3 years ago when I gave access to Internet I became communication in socialnetworls. There I met one guy who had nick "furry" This word was interesting for me (I don't know why) and I found this word in google. I thought "hah, interesting subculture, It's realy for me"

Hmm, nice question. Well I started earing sometimes the word "furfag" on the Internet and IRCs, I am a very curious guy (very ) so I started searching furfag, later I searched "furry games" and "furry animations". After some months of seeing Furry *cough* porn (yeah, bad start but don't judge me for that ) I started looking for furry forums and furry related websites but I officially became a furry when I read 3 comics, one called "Motion of the Ocean" by Fluke, "Dog's days of summer" by Blotch and "Circles" by Rabbit Valley. Funny thing is that I felt the same emotional joy in reading those as I felt when played "Sly 2 & 3" - A game that has lots of anthropomorphic characters - and when I watched the movie "Avatar".
By this time I got hooked and joined the furry fandom and later this forum.

So I am now addicted not only to comic books and furry porn (again guys, please don't judge me for that) but for the art work and also like to search for other furries, fursuits and etc.

Not planning to buy any kind of furry thing (except for comics when I haz money) as I'm still young to use it (even though I'm already 1.8 meters high) and I really don't see any interest on it -YET- .

I happened upon a webcomic by accident, when searching for an Anime Character.  The webcomic artist liked the same character, and I got interested in their comic.
Then in their links section, there was this roleplay forum.  I checked it out, it looked really cool, so I created a character.  It mentioned that it was "not made specifically for furries, but expect there to be plenty of them", and I'd never heard of furry before then.  Honestly I took anthropomorphics for granted in stuff like webcomics, they were just cool characters to me. 

So my character was part-time furry, and later I discovered MUCKs and other furry stuff, and really got into it.

Started with Lion King. I was a Nalaholic. Lol.

I watched it for the first time in, like, 10 years, when I was 14. Became obsessed, but couldn't quite place why. Eventually I realized that I was just obsessed with all the female characters (I've since come to appreciate it and other films like it for other reasons, but this was then), especially Nala. I thought they were all beautiful creatures; not just majestic, but straight-up beautiful.

After joining a forum or two, I discovered that there was a whole community with similar interests in anthropomorphic animals, and I said, "Hey, this is cool." This is actually the first specifically "furry" forum that I've joined since then, but I've become well acquainted with the genre of anthropomorphism. To this day, I often wonder what it'd be like if I could really take part in one of the many furry worlds that fans of the genre have created over the years.

Some webcomics that particularly pique my interest, both in reading and imagining, are Sabrina Online (Eric Schwartz), Better Days (Jay Naylor), and, more recently, Housepets! (Rick Griffin).

I've always loved dragons, my whole life. I drew tons of anthro dragons before I knew what the word "anthro" meant. I began associating myself with charactaristics of dragons. At the time, I didn't think anyone else felt this way, so I didn't want to tell anyone, cuz I thought they would think I was crazy for feeling this way. Later in my teens, I actually began becoming attracted to dragons. They were just so strong and dignified and beautiful all at once. I didn't know what furries were until one of the guys that used to be a friend told me they were the one thing he hated. His description was very unkind, and usually when I hear stuff like that I like to investigate to see what the people themselves have to say. So I did, and it felt like an epifiniy (wrong spelling?). I suddenly knew what I had been a part of all along. It took me a while and a lot of thought, but I finally created a fursona. I am a Dragon whos name cannot be pronounced with human vocal cords, but the best translation is "Azure Fire-Storm of Great Winds." I've shortened this to Azure Flame. It's great to be able to express who I always have been at last.
