The phrase has its uses, I just don't like if people abuse it.

Another pet peeve: my car's radio volume dial. Whenever I try to turn it up/down, the exact volume that I think would be perfect for the radio is in between two of the little "clicks", so if i turn it up one notch it's too loud, and if I turn it back down one notch, it's too quiet.

Very much agreed. Sometimes my mother would make brownies, and tell me there weren't nuts in them even though there were. As if I'd suddenly like nuts just because I didn't know they were in there. -_-
