When do you become a furry?

This is one of those really tough questions, at what point do you become a furry?

I am kinda curious, cause my current mate, has somewhat of a fursona, but he doesnt consider himself a furry I dont think. At the same time, I am not much further into being a furry than he is, so where is the difference...

i think it all depends on what u call ure self. imo anyone who wants to be more than a regular human, and has an idea of how they would want to be greater than a regular human. but thats imo

Hmmm... Since 6th grade, but I didn't know it... Used to think I was more cat. Officially, I became a furry on October 15 of this year.(When I regestered here) ^,^ Thanks FF!

I believe you become part of the fandom when you admit to enjoying reading, writing, drawing, or viewing furry art.

I believe you yourself are a fur when you associate yourself with an animal, even if you aren't sure which animal.

I don't think you even have to know what being a furry is, to be a furry either.

don't forget animal can be a bird, reptile or mecha. or anything thats greater than a human (like more than a regular average joe)

Animal generally refers to any living multiple celled organism with eukaryotic cells,  I believe. But that can be stretched a bit for the purpose of the fandom. I think anything that falls in the category "animal" or resembles one in form, shape, or thoughts and ISN'T a human, would be considered part of the fandom.

i think a lot of furries are furries because they find it easy to associate themselves with animals, but ofcourse there are a lot of furries who are furries just because they like animals and/or anthropomorphic animals. then there's the ones that just love the art, the roleplays etc.
but in my opinion, someone isnt a furry unless he/she wants to carry the lable.

I became a furry 4 or 5 years ago. and I always loved foxes so I decided to have an alter ego or fursona that was a fox.

Whenever you want. It's all up to you if you want to called/considered a furry or not. There is no clear-cut line where, after that point, you are a furry. It's if you want to call yourself one or not.

Being a furry can be at any point you feel you are more than human. I became a wolf furry January 07' but previously as a child, I was a cat furry and I didn't even know it!
Some furs like real animals, some like drawn fursonas, and some like both. (I love both)
Being a furry is however you percieve it, there's no real rules according to the fandom.
