Some of the old school games has a lot of really great music, i like some of the music for the final fantasys for the snes

lol how about the final fantasy's for the NES?. and raiden II/III have some pretty strange BGM at some points. (singing in a really high pitched annoying voice in japanese doesn't count as real music)

The Final Fantasy games for NES and SNES had some pretty good music, but then again, most gems on those systems had good music. 'Mike Tyson's Punch Out!' anyone? The Legend of Zelda for NES? Super Metroid's boss music? Super Mario Bros. 3 airship theme?

Halo 3 has a really omnious score on it.. although it is a pretty crap game. And i always liked the Call of Duty 5 soundtrack too, but thats more about the voice acting I think (and again, not a good game)

i like the music in Rome:Total War (awesome game btw)  actually the music in all the Total War games is good ^^

That reminds me, the old Dragon Warrior/Quest games had some pretty decent music.

I honestly believe that the soundtrack for the video game The Darkness (360/PS3) is the most beautiful game score I've ever heard. Gustaf Grefberg did an amazing job. It's a shame the game was subpar.
