I am just curious as to who on the forum is interested in/actively works on, their personal health and fitness.

now i know that doesn't mean looking like the governator did is his movies (that's actually counter productive to your health) but it should involve some exercise, and eating right.

so how are all of you doing on this topic? (I admit i have issues with eating right, and some weight issues)

(Sigh) I'm not too good to my body. If its not soda or HI-C, I'm not drinking it, and I don't excercise AT ALL. But I'm on the Push-Up thread to help get myself on the right track. :D

I'm underweight by about 30 pounds, but I don't feel sick at all, even though I look like I should.

yeah shadow, i think we're all a little harsh to our bodies >.<
and on the topic of soda, i drink way too much of it, but i found that a good tea with maybe some brown sugar or honey in it makes an exellent substitute :D

and Nihil: does it affect your health or life at all?

I haven't found a tea that I can drink a lot of yet, so I'll try flavored water or something. I've been wondering, is Powerade/Gatorade better for you than flavored water? ???

as far as i know that stuff just has salts and things in it to replace the ones you loose when working out, it's the equivalent of flavored sweat as far as i know lol

and there are lots of 'sports drinks' out there, but you gotta look at what's in them before you start drinking alot of it, they have some NASTY stuff in some of them.

Well, I can't get too active, like running, jumping and climbing, or I'll get really lightheaded and not be able to see. I don't see any *good* way to gain weight, though.

well in the summer/spring and fall..i'm usually out mountain biking..whether it be trail riding, doing 6-8ft drops, or just bombing around town..i'm always on the go..and it's such an adrenaline rush...especially when riding 30mph down city streets xD and yes..I wear a helmet along with riding gloves and a riding jersey..((I should get a picture of it all on me xD))

usually I ride alone though...I wish i had someone to come with me..it'd make it so much more fun...I often go to the Provincial park near me..there's an old railway track that leads right into it from town.((there's no more trains running..no rails on the tracks either..it's just a dirt path now))

during my ride. ((if i planon being out all day)) i'll take a backpack of stuff..water..energy drinks, spare tire tube..tool set.. etc..

pretty much going prepared..i even take extra chain with me...and some munchies as well..

and in the winter...I play the Wii XD

well, I'd see a doctor about that if i were you (if you haven't already) and one tip i got from a friend (and the military while i was in the academy) was eat peanut butter, it helps you gain weight and isn't too bad for ya'

but I'm not a dietitian, so don't take my advice as law lol

and dang shadow, move around much? :P lol, but that's great! i'm glad to see a fellow fur so active, as for winter exercise, i find that running in the snow is an EXELLEN resistance workout, and it wears you out, fast >.<

Flavored sweat...lol. But I guess its better to just go with plain water then. But the problem is that tap water is NASTY!(I guess the Pyrong is an exaggeration, but still...)
I'm gonna ask my mom to buy a Brita (Sp?) water filter, because just buying a bunch of bottled water is a waste o' cash, in my opinion.

oh, that sucks man, well, still, there are options, go to a doctor and a dietitian to see what you can do!

good idea, i have a 'Pure' water pitcher and it's great, we also have two water coolers in my house to promote drinking plenty of water

unfortunately, that's as far as my family's dedication to health goes, my sister is only 9 but she already has the poor habits of my family, and my mom doesn't seem to give a flying **** about any of that, bringing McDonalds and other poor foods into the house CONSTANTLY, it's a miracle i didn't die at a young age from a heart attack (when i was younger i was the kid you'd stab with a fork to see if he bleeds gravy...... don't ask  :umm: )

and that brings me to another thing, what kind of affect does your environment, friends, and family have on your health and fitness?

My mom's exactly like that. Don't get me wrong, some McDonald's here and there probally won't give you a heart attack, but in today's world we just don't have time to get up and cook a decent breakfast (Or lunch) so its just more convient to go there. But it dosn't even have to be that - just some fruit or a Fiber One bar would be fine to grab while running out the door. But the only fruit my mom buys is bananas, and SOMETIMES grapes or oranges, but everyone else eats it all before I can get to it. Um... I don't have any buiness outside. All my friends live too far away to walk, and I don't have a bike... BUT! My sister has a statonary bike I could use... I can't run very well... I'm a klutz, but I'd play DDR if my dance mat wasn't broken, and I no longer have Wii Sports.

I think it should count as child abuse if you smoke in a house with children in it... They don't have a choice but to breathe that icky stuff in. I could save a lot of money just bringing lunch to school and not eating stuff out of those machines ($1.00 for some Cheetoes is robbery! >:|)
