In reality Obama is going to complete what is Humanly possible, both through the ability of our country to afford it and the energy the at the moment uncaring majority will give.

He will accomplish many things, good and bad.

But in reality the political system is still long and very treacherous, the congress will need to pull out all the stops and cooperate fully with Obama to complete even half of the major endeavors he is seeking.

A civil war would ignite over his death, not his faliures, the thought that we would be that quick to violence is in itself petty and unrealistic.

People are hostile to eachother, there are open conflicts among people in cities and towns, but the chances of a second Civil war over anything short of some monumental world changing event is hard to believe.

I believe in him, I know he's going to do us good, and though he might not get everythign done, he's going to get something done.

Good Luck Mr. President, I'm ready and willing to help in any way.

this something i never understood, please enlighten me. the new generation, mine wasn't around in the time of segeration and slaves and other injustices, like me i grew up thinking that every one is created equal, all my friends did too, but when the old people make a big deal about it, like racisim, and steps to equality. they put the seeds of that into our minds. it's just really stupid to act that way about it, ya know, i don't want obama to be prez and that has nothing to do with whatever his race or color or whatever the heck ppl care about, i just think mccain could do a better job. and somehow people treat it like a racial issue. i'm not slamming anyone but why is this like that, we just assume that when we don't agree with anyone a lot of people assume it has something to do with race color or reglion.

It's understandable that he messed up...he was probably very nervous, I know I would be. Plus, when the guy made the pause between "I, Barack Hussein Obama..." and "do solemnly swear", so it seemed like Obama was supposed to repeat at that point instead of after. And the second time, it was the Chief Justice who messed up the wording and got it a little backwards, so Obama corrected him before repeating it.

I believe Obama will get the things done that he wanted, probably not all of them, but plenty.

And Phantom, some people are just stupid that way. I know I never thought that everyone who didn't like Obama was a racist (although plenty of the non-supporters are). I know that some people just like McCain and his ideas better and him being "more experienced" (although that's mainly just in military matters). But basically, some people are just over-dramatic and paranoid, so they just believe it has to do with race and not politics. Don't pay attention to those people except maybe to say "I'm NOT a racist, it's just my political opinion.", but other than that, just ignore them.

And I did make a major error; I told someone that McCain was a better choice because he's held a gun, had a gun pointed at him and knows what it feels like to watch someone die because you pulled the trigger. I am ignorant about the way he would have run the country but IN MY OPINION, I don't see our country going very far in terms of keeping out of other's business and tending to ours. I may be wrong but I see us getting into more fights than necessary and screwing ourselves over (again).

this seems awfully familar to the jfk ellection, nixon on the tv when it first came out looked old and tired, he was getting over a surgury and didn't wear stage makeup, JFK did, a lot of people who listened over the radio to the debaits thought that nixon would win, people who watched over tv thought JFK would win, he was charismatic, young, the picture of good health. thats how it was with this election, we got to pick between a 70 year old guy with bad arms and a young looking guy with a wife and 2 young daughters. the election is a lot like a popularity thing

America has become extremely cynical and uninterested over the past decade, stemming from political division and idealogical differences.

President Obama appealed to people who were tired of the appearance of apathy, in older and younger generations.

I completely understand the confusion of racial feelings and political preferences, but also understand that there are people who opposed Obama because of his race and because of beliefs that he was a Muslim, which for some reason was an issue.

Obama is energetic and extremely appealing, both in appearance and personality.

A militarial policy in foreign relations as well as in other arenas would be extremely ill advised, like the Eisenhower policy of brute force.

I believe fully in President Obama, and like I said, realistically, he will complete some of his projects, but everything takes time, especially in the American Political Process.

100 days for the 21st century.

Senator Mccain is an honorable man, of course, and I agreed with him on some points, however, the idea that the US could be fixed by simply allowing the same old to appear  progressive by adding a few terms is ultimately what undid him in the polls and the public's opinion.

He's President, thats that.

Now we just have to be ready for whatever comes, instead of assuming others will meet it.
