Ok. Though, curious as to why you'd think a fox would have a go at you? You'd be like a dinosaur to a fox, the fox would have just been scavenging and approached you because other people before have fed them. Foxes are by nature, timid and although family oriented, explore alone.

i am unsure of why the fox came near me i did have a few weapons out and i think it smelt all the food

Foxes don't use weapons so don't necessarily know what they are. I think the smell of food can lure anyone, though note foxes are small and also have small stomachs so I doubt they'd attempt to attack you unless you were in their den territory, just like anyone would if a uninvited stranger walked onto their private property.
