Re-writing History
« on: May 05, 2009, 11:00:17 PM »
The year is 1355, war has broken out in England against their supposed ally, France. England has began to move troops into France, hoping to reach the castle and out it under seige. The country of Germany sees this as a prime opportunity to attack England while the main portion of their army is in France. The Country of Spain sees their enemy, the French, under attack and decides to catch them while they're occupied with England.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________

You are a the leader of a section an army for the country of your choice. Choose your type of unit(Soldier, Archer, Magician, Healer), your weapon of choice(sword, lance, axe, bow and arrows, rod, staff, or wand) and your weight/thickness of armor(none, light, medium, heavy). You may also have a backup weapon(dagger, shortsword, throwing knives). For magicians, choose your preference of magic(fire, wind, ice, earth, electricity, darkness). Healers can restore a unit's health. All healers are able to weild light magic, for some measure of defense. Now, you are not only limited to your preference in magic, but you can't be outstandingly good with many magicks.

You may have multiple charachters in this RP. However, all charachters must be in the same unit. They can be different classes, but they must stick together.

Like all wars, death is a major factor. The bonus of multiple characters is that, if need be, they can be sacrificed to buy the others some time. Don't throw their lives away though, be sure you have a good reason for letting them die. There is NO RESURRECTION in this RP. When they die, they stay dead.

Entry forms will be in the OOC thread.

Larsen stared out a window of the castle, viewing what would soon be a field of death and bloodshed. "Germany... They would attack us while our forces are in France..." He snarled as he saw the German standard waving in the wind. He wrapped a paw around his lance and glared out at the field of green, spanning the distance between the two armies. It was a very lush and green field. The grass was soft, the trees were uncannily placed in what were almost exact increments, there were shrubs and bushes with plump berries and the whole field seemed peaceful. "I fear mother earth will not forgive us for destroying such a beautiful work of art..." he said glumly.

Tharren walked up to Larsen, gently plucking his bowstring to create a soft but sharp twanging sound. "Hey, cheer up, Liutenant. It's not us that mother earth will curse. We're trying to protect this land. If anything, the approaching German army will be the cursed ones..." He patted Larsen on the back and leaned up against the window. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply before saying, "Come on, Liutenant, let's go see if we can find our magician friend. I'm sure he'd like to see us before we head out into war."

Larsen sighed and turned from the window. "Yeah, I bet he'd like that. Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go see him." Larsen then walked down the hallway and towards the Mage's Guild.

"Wait up, Liutenant!" Tharren called out as he followed his leader and best friend.

ixlander grimly checked over his weaponry and armor. he would be heading out to lead his troop against the germans. the big armored bear cracked his knuckles as his fingers rubbed a cloth over his armor, shining it up while scowering away any rust. the large bear set the plate mail on the table and the bear rose up in his chamber's. he went over to his armor rack and pulled on his armor pants, and boots. he picked up the recently cleaned chest piece and slid it over his dark head. he strapped the shoulder pieces into place, then strapped the bracers and gaiuntlets on. the bear took his monster lance from the wall, strapped on his sword and hung his shield from his back. then the grim commander walked out of his room to ready his charge for war.

ixlandria ironforge was grooming her mount, a sturdy chestnut, strong enough to support her while charging into battle, when the large brown bear heard another set of armored boots walking into the stables. guessing who it was he grinned a bit and said slyly "hello brother, shouldn't you be going over strategy with the other commander's?" the armored bear said standing up and turning to face her older brother

Ixlander stopped short slightly when he heard his sister's words. a smile played his his graying muzzle. "i should, but that dosen't mean i have to" he said grimly. he smiled a bit. "you should be resting, we may fight any day now, you don't want to fall out of the saddle from exaugstion, again." the larger bear said remembering the winter his sister fell from her mount into the snow during training.

"that was a one time deal" the slightly smaller bear said quickly grinning. "if we are going to go to war soon, you know as well as i do, that you, me and john will make it through it alive, we always have, why should things be diffrent this time around." the bear said grimly, she knew as well as her brother did about going into war and the outcomes.

"i know sister, that reminds me" the older bear said walking over to a wooden piller. "you cen get down now jhon" he said calmly knocking his metal plated fist into the beam, causing the rafter's to shake slightly, making a brown small monket fall down from the rafters.

the agile monkey landed on the smaller bear's shoulders. "you could have just said get down, you didn't have to nearly take down the building" the small monkey said complaintivly slightly, smiling a bit. he hopped down from ironforge the younger to the ground. he stood up to his full height of 5' 3" and leaned on the small fence that housed the donkeys, the pack animals too small to carry as much as the bigger mounts could.

"noted" the large bear said slightly smiling. "this is just like old times, well, ixlandria was right, i should go talk to the other commander's of the english before tomarrow" the leutenant said "good bye my friends. i hope i see you before the battle" the bigger armored bear said turneing and walking out of the stable waving to his friends.

ixlandria grinned at her brother. "bye brother" she called, she turned to jhon, i'll see you later friend. may fortune guild your arrows." the bear said patting her mount on the head and walking out.

Larsen and Tharren made their way to the Mages guild. Larsen looked at Tharren before sighing deeply. "Tharren. I just want you to know that, whatever happens tomorrow, I'm glad that you've always stuck by me."

Tharren smiled cheekily and replied, "And I'm glad you've always been there for me, Liutenant." He walks up to the door of the Mages Guild and knocks loudly. After a moment, a young racoon opens the door. "May I help you, sire?" the cub asks honorably. Tharren smiled warmly before replying, "Yes, would you mind taking us to see Scyler? We wish to devise a strategy for tomorrow with him." The boy bowed politely and ushered the two inside. "Yes, come on in. I'll take you to him now."

Up in his room, Scyler stared out the window at the sun, watching it slowly drift lower in in the sky. His sister, Mynerva, walked up behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Brother," she said, "I do not wish to go to war. I'd rather be at peace with Germany." Scyler sighed deeply and closed his eyes. "I know, Mynerva. But we must fight. We can't just turn our backs to our king, our country. We must fight and give no quarter."

Mynerva sighed deeply and looked at the floor. "I know, but..."

"But nothing. Mynerva, they will not show you the same mercy that we would show them. They are here to invade, to kill ruthlessly. They will make no prisoners and give no quarter unless under terms of surrender by our king." He looked her in the eyes, warmth seeming to radiate from his face. Yet, there was also a cold harshness in his eyes. "Mynerva, you cannot go into battle with doubtful thoughts. They will only cloud your judgement and end up getting you killed. If you don't want to fight, don't. I'm not going to force a woman, much less a child, to fight."

Mynerva looked into Scyler's eyes. She saw care and love. "Scyler..." she said in almost a whisper, "I... I'll fight, Scyler. I'll fight for the honor of our name and our country." She noticed Scyler smile and then hugged him. "Thank you, brother... I needed that."

The racoon cub knocked on Scyler's door. Tharren and Larsen waited patiently outside. "Come in!" they heard a voice inside say. The cub opened the door and led the two inside. "Master Scyler, Mistress Mynerva. You have visitors. Master Larsen and Master Tharren."

"Welcome," Scyler said, "Please have a seat." He motioned for them to sit at a small table in the corner of the room.

"SIR, Messenger on the horizon!" said Gabag's right hand man, Julius. "Let them pass then, if they try anything, rip them to shreds." the grizzled sgt. announced to his unit. The messanger rode into the warcamp, straight to the Sergeants unit. " My lord, if I may be quick, but the English are preparing their defenses on the border to Yorktown (can it be Yorktown?), they have a large body of infantry and archers, supported by mages of all types." Thinking, Grbag put a hand on his blade, looking out towards the large English Castles. Built to stop all but the most powerful shot, he expected many of his troops would die in the siege.

(Yorktown is fine.)

Scyler watched as his two comrades took a seat at the table. "Now, friends, what do you need?"

Tharren looked to Larsen and nodded. Larsen nodded back and turned to Scyler and Mynerva. "We need to devise a strategy. If we don't have some sort of plan when we go out there, well be overwhelmed quickly." Larsen watched Scyler as he sat in silence. He stared out the window and said, "Well, if you're looking for a strategy, you should be meeting with the other high ranked officers, not your subordinate. However, I will help you devise a strategy with them. So, let's go." Scyler stood up and put his robes on top of his civilian clothing. "Come, Minerva, we need to do all we can to prepare." Mynerva nodded and pulled her cloak about her shoulders. "Yes, brother. Let's go."

The four soon left the Mages Guild and made their way to the meeting hall. When they reached the hall, Larsen stopped the group and ordered Mynerva and Tharren to stay behind. "I'm sorry, my friends, but we need to strategize more efficiently." Scyler turned back to his Liutenant and remarked lightly, "The more minds we have, the greater our possibility or devising an unbreakable strategy. Besides, Mynerva has all the brains that I do. Please, Liutenant, let them in." Larsen sighed and motioned for them to enter. "You have a valid point, Scyler." He then walked inside and sat at the round table to strategize with the other officers. "We still need Ixlander here, sir." Tharren whispered to his commanding officer. "That we do, Tharren, that we do..."

ixlander, after leaving his close friends, went on a quick jog around the inside wall of the castle, in full body armor. he had learned if you made your body accostom to touture in training, it would hold up better during the real thing when that skill was needed most. after his jog he went back to his chamber's. he quickly washed and changed into common clothes. the large bear shook out his wet short hair, drying the short locks quickly before he grabbed his chest plate mail and sword. he had to look the part of leutenant, and there was always time to train. when he got outside of his chambers he called a castle servent to his side, "please find ixlandria ironforge, and johnathan ironheart. tell them to get ready and meet me at the confrence hall straight away." the big knight finished as the small coyote nodded and ran off through the palace. with that done, the large slightly armored bear walked to the confrence hall to discuss the impending war.

ixlandria was just finishing washing up after she finished with her own short training period when she got a knock on her door. she shook out her short hair and opened it to find a palace servent. "yes?" she asked with raised brows as the messenger relayed the message. "i'm sorry miss, but i can't find sir ironheart." the young coyote said quietly. "don't worry, knowing john, he'll be at the dining hall" the bear said. she ruffled the youngling's hair and took a silver piece out of her belt purse and gave it to him. "thank you for the message" with that ixlandria closed the solid door and looked around, she changed into common clothes, and put on her chest armor, and strapped her sword to her waist also. with that she went out of her room.

john shook himself awake when he heard a small coyote voice talking to him, he listened. and thanked the messenger with a silver coin of his own and stood up. he was already in common clothes, he had his sword with him. the monkey nodded to the messenger and shook out his head and finger combed it into place. then he took off at a trot to the meeting place.

ixlander smiled when he saw his two friends come over to the hall. "come on guys, i need you now." he said and opened the door and all 3 of them walked inside.

The atmosphere inside the meeting hall was electric. Everyone was trying to have their strategy heard so they might get credit if it was successful. The king of England, a lion with graying fur, rubbed at his forehead as the commotion only got louder. Scyler's keen eyes spotted this. Scyler then stood on top of the table and said softly, "Will everybody please take your seats and quiet down? We're trying to be civilized here..." When the commotion only got louder, Scyler bared his fangs. He then slammed his footpaw on the table and bellowed, "HEY! SIT DOWN AND SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!!!" Scyler let out a deep sigh, hopped off the table and bowed to his king. "The floor is yours, m'lord..." The king was greeted with complete silence.

The king stood from his seat and pronounced loudly, "Now, because you are all aware of our dire situation, you also know that we need a decent strategy. Now, if everyone will present their strategies," The room erupted into chaos again. The king slammed the hilt of his sword against the table and shouted, "SILENCE!!!" he then proceeded, "Everyone will present their strategies one at a time. Not a single strategy will be chosen alone. It will be best to take bits and pieces from each and use them to make a nearly flawless strategy. Now, we will begin with Sir Larsen Giles. Liutenant, please, begin."

Larsen stood and then stepped aside as he let Scyler take his place at the chair to voice his strategy. "My lord, Scyler has come up with the strategy for us." The king looked as if to protest, but Larsen cut him off. "My lord, Scyler is the brightest mind in this brigade. Please, allow him to speak. He may just have the strategy you're looking for." The king hesitantly allowed Scyler to speak. Tharren and Mynerva smiled as Scyler stood to speak.

"My superiors and my equals, I come to you with a plan for tomorrow's battle. However, it requires we take action tonight. If we are to use this strategy, then we must begin mobilizing units within the hour." A loud commotion was about to begin, but Scyler raised his right paw for silence. "What my strategy requires is for us to split up our army at a 40% and 60% split. What this means is that 40% of our army will stay to defend our castle. The other 60% will leave the castle and take refuge over in the forest just east of the castle. From there, under the cover of darkness, we will flank the German army and catch them with a deadly and effective pincer maneuver. This will require us to blacken our armor and weapons so we don't reflect any light when we flank them. Now, the 40% staying at the castle should be enough to withstand a seige for an indefinite amount of time. The other 60% may experience moderate losses. But don't fear, we've sent word by a messenger falcon to our army in France to send us some reinforcements. They will be here within two weeks time. If we can last that long and still cause significant losses to the German army, then we can win this. I know that this plan is somewhat risky, but if it works, victory will be ours. Now, the 40% staying at the castle will be mainly archers and mages. However, if they manage to break in, we will have our heaviest armored soldiers guarding the gate with a line of regular soldiers behind them. This section of units will consist of two rows or heavily armored knights, many rows of medium armored soldiers, the rest will be mages and archers. The other 60% of the troops will be the other units we have left. Most of our heavy units will only slow us down, so they'll be tasked with guarding the gate. However, if they can move quickly in their armor, like Sir Ixlander here, they will be allowed in the flanking group. Now, we will still take archers and mages with us. My master's brigade, Sir Larsen's, will be part of the 60%. We are a nice blend of the different types of fighters needed to flank the German army. Other brigades like ours will be chosen as well. Of course, we will need a few powerful healers with us as well. This, is necessary. Now, we will wait for three days after the Germans attack. That way, they will have already expected to be flanked. Then we catch them when they aren't expecting it. This will cause them to suffer heavy losses and have nowhere to run. Now, if the flanking is successful, I want there to be a full scale attack launched from the castle. Our mages that have specialized in summoning will summon the great fire spirit, Agni, as well as the great ice spirit, Rahab. This will allow us to completely obliterate their army." There were nods and murmurs of approval, but also sighs and mumblings or disapproval. "However, if this is our plan, then we must go now, before the enemy can see just how many units we still have left at this castle. If he sees how many we have, then this plan is guaranteed to fail. Now, what say ye to this plan?" Syler stood and held his staff out, laying on the table. "I'm for it."

The king eyes him warily and said objectively, "Youngling, give your superiors a chance to present their plans as well. The more ideas we have, the better it can be." Scyler blushed in frustration at being called a youngling, but bowed to his king nonetheless and replied, "If it is your will, m'lord, the so be it." The king nodded and then looked towards Ixlander. "Sir Ixlander, I believe you are one of our more seasoned warriors. What would your strategy be.?"

ixlander and his friends listened to the young tiger's plan. the large bear nodded slightly thinking over the plan. he looked up when the king spoke to him. he stood and bowed to the king. the largest bear motioned for john to stand with him. the large bear heard some mutterings around the room. "hey, he might not be training with heavy armor and swords man ship like the rest of my troop, but I'll bet 5 gold pieces that he knows this terrain better than any one here. and you men know it." the bear growled dangerously to the mumbling fur's and humans around him, they all quieted when they heard what his growl was about. the large armored bear nodded to the small monkey next to him.

at his best friend's nod the small brown furred monkey reached into his tunic and pulled out a large rolled up piece of parchment. the monkey set it on the table and rolled it out, it was a complete map of the area. "I've checked the maps in the library of this area, some spots were blank from being unmapped, i checked out those areas and mapped them myself." the monkey said. he wasn't a famous soldier, but he was a Noble's son, very respected. he had already been sent out to map some of the new terrain around him before the war started.

ixlander nodded to the monkey in a silent thanks. he then let his friend explain the area to the people and furs around them.

john smiled and bent over the map. he picked up one small finger and placed it on the map. "our scouts have reported the Germans are camped here" he said putting his finger down lightly. "they picked a good defensible position, they are in a field, with a mountain side at their back. the field will make it hard for our troops to sneak up on them, there is about 20 yards between the tree line and either side of the camp." the monkey started pointing out the field in question. "the mountain is steep, possibly steep enough for a few lightly armored ones to scramble up to the top, but no mounts or soldier's should be even get close. we can have archer's take the escaping climbers down if they get high enough. but that takes care of that side." the monkey sat down in his overly large chair again.

ixlander patted his friend on teh shoulder. "as you can see sneaking up on them might be difficult to say the least, now I'm not saying the pincer move is bad, i just think it needs a bit of work to make sure we don't lose many lives." the bear said pointing to the area directly in front of the german's camp. "i suggest that my troop, with some support mages, get close to the camp, then we go and slam right into the camp." he held up his massive hand when he heard some people start to talk over him. talking about slaughter. he waited till the room was silent once more, staring grimly at the people talking. "my sister will try to explain this to you" the large bear said nodding to the slightly smaller bear

ixlandria stood up and nodded to her brother. now she knew why he wanted her and john here. "sir's our troop is extremely strong, nearly all of us heavily armored and equally so with weapons, my brother trains them with that." the large bear said nodding. "now, heavy doesn't make a good troop, not all the way any way. speed is also very important, as many of you men know." she nodded respectfully to the room, including the king. "but our troop isn't just heavy, we are fast. i hand select our mounts, strong and reliable to get us where we must go and fast. strong horses, i breed them and i help train them when i can. i also train each soldier in our troop about horse man ship, mounted battle, and general riding work. our troops can get around fast on our horses, and effectively ride and fight from horse back." the big bear finished and nodded.

ixlander patted his sister on the shoulder. "our troop is nearly all heavy soldier's, schooled by me personally in heavy armor and heavy weaponry, they can run, fight and wield heavy weapons on the ground and still win in a fight. they are strong and reliable. i hand pick the people that join my troop." he said looking around. "we are fast enough to keep up with the pincer formation, and we can take a few good hits. if we drive in, the camp will be confused and scared, they probably didn't plan to wake up one night with 100 heavily armed soldiers on huge mounts crashing down on them." the bear said standing up straight again. "my troop is strong, but even we aren't invincible, once we go in there they will be startled, but not for long. when we get in there, the rest of the pincer formation has to close in and help take them down, or else we won't get out alive." the largeest fur in the room nodded. "what i'm saying is that the pincer formation might not be able to sneak up on the camp alone, my troop could be the distraction that could get the rest of the army withen striking range. we can hold the line and function in battle, distracting the army while the pincer's set up and close around them. i fear with out a distraction many of the troops in the pincer's will die." the largest bear said grimly. he then looked at the king. "that is my suggestion and input, your highness." the huge bear said bowing slightly to the old lion, and taking a seat.

"Ah, Gabag, good to see you ahead of schedule...my army was moving too slow, so I went on ahead of them, and my 2nd in command is leading them here as I speak..." I said as I approached my colleague...
"Ahhh it's good to see you old friend, while your here, let's go over the preparations against the English dogs." Taking out a map of the local area he points to points of interest. "These woods here, they seem a likely place to stage an ambush, I was thinking having troops go into there, but they would have no way of knowing if there are English already in the woods." continuing, he says "If we stay in camp too long however, the English might charge with their heavier units, with out heavy units of their own, losses would be extreme, however with our speed, we may be able to outrun their heavier units, if they charge, lead them to the main army for a trap, with my unit acting as skirmishers for the main body, separating their heavies from the main army is crucial, for without heavy armor, their mages and archers are vulnerable to a cavalry charge."
Pointing towards little bumps on the map he continues "These markings signify hills or mountains, very difficult for mounts to climb, and hard work for a human, I recommend stationing our ranged specialists up there to give suppressing fire, and while they attempt to cover themselves, we charge, sweeping their units in a rout, with would most likely result in more deaths for the English." Signaling one of his men over, he hands him the plans and says "Take these plans to the main body of Lord Felix, he needs to know about this so when we draw the English out, he won't be surprised by their charge and our rout."

Mynerva stood and said loudly, "Ixlander, that is a pretty well thought plan. But, what if they're already expecting us to do that? We won't know for sure until we actually do battle. However, what if we thought outside the box on this one. What if we did something they would never expect. What if we got them with the pitfall trap. We have many skilled earth-style mages. They could easily make pitfalls in the plain en route to the castle that wouldn't be visible to many. Even so, we have many mages also skilled in magicks to trick the mind. We could easily set incantations on the holes to make them appear as solid ground. Then, when someone falls in, the pitfall might still be able to claim another. But, there would still be some that would notice those. So, what we do is... We also make normal pitfalls. However, we make some to be fake while others are real. Now, the pitfall traps will not kill the enemy, but only trap them. This will slow down their advances and allow us to pick them off easily with our archers and mages. Now, to cause them to charge will be the tricky part. Thats why we bait them. They'll originally be expecting a trap if the bait is obvious enough. But, if we also set up a fake trap that is almost painfully obvious, then we can hit them with the real trap that they'll be obliviously led right into."

Tharren smiled and took over from there. "The fake trap will be our brigade. We will be hiding by the brushline and the edge of the forest. They will see us and notice some sort of trap. However, we must also be prepared if they plan to charge the fake trap and destroy the units there. So, another backup trap will be this. This forest is on a hill angled towards where they would charge us. So, we would have large boulders ready to roll down the hill and crush them. Plus, our earth-style mages can enchant these boulders to detonate and send sharp rock shards everywhere. Now, the velocity in one of these shards can pierce a half inch thick plate of iron. This will take out all but their heaviest units in range. Now, if they try to go around, we use a little invention my dear friend Scyler made."

Scyler stood again and showed what looked to be a wooden frame. He held it out and picked up an apple. He tossed the apple in the air and caught it. "You see that this is an ordinary apple, right? Watch..." He dropped the apple into the frame of wood. The apple seemed to fall through unphased. But when it hit the table, the apple split into 9 slices. There were murmurs of awe and disbelief. Scyler then gel the frame up. "I call it micro-wire. It's thin enough not to be seen, but thick enough to cut and not break. All we need to do is put three lines of this around certain spots in the forest. We will mark these spots on a map so we can safely take them down after the war. Now, I can weave enough micro-wire to fill the jungle in an hour. But, I will only do so if this is indeed the plan we are to go with."

ixlander frowned and sighed. he lowered his head slightly. his sister watched him, she knew that look better than any body. ixlander shook his head again and settled back to think. 'this sickens me, i started fighting when all you needed was strength speed, and strategy. now we have magics, and new inventions that are outshining the warrior's, the girth and force of the army. the men that can take hits and keep on fighting. we are getting shown up by fancy parlor tricks and fancy weaponry.' the large bear thought grimly to himself. "what if we had a camp out there, instead of us crashing into them we wait and let them come to us." the gigantic bear said. "the camp could be build and set up to house, maybe about 5 people. but in reality we have some of my troops and some of these new mages. the enemy will think it to be a simple scouting party. filled with a few people who they could pump for information or info about the area." the bear said standing up again, "we could have the camp be close to the enemy's, setting us up for an ambush, they could see it as the enemy having no idea where they were stationed. or we could change the size of the camp, with many empty tents and large fires, we can make a phantom army or 200 or more soldier's, we can even have the mages conjure up some threatening looking soldiers" he said shrugging. "we can set up the traps all around the enemy's camp keeping them in place if we stay with the pincer formation attack. they would have to be cloaked, or the enemy would be angry as soon as they saw one and would storm out around teh camp looking for the people that got those holes there." the large bear sat down again. "if the Germans try to ambush the camp we can take them down, or if the army is big enough i can have the rest of my troop within 2 minutes of riding distance. out of range for enemy attention, but close enough to help. the camp of soldier's can make a lot of noise and bring more soldier's to fight us, when the army realise what is going on then we spring the pincer trap." the large bear said sighting, "but that is only if they actually decide to sleep at night instead and play like normal soldier's would. we should still set up those traps all around the enemy's camp if we can" he said then looked at john. "but i also believe that it would be a good idea to send out scouts to pinpoint the location of the enemy. Johnathan here, is in charge of the scouts and archer's in my troop. he hand picks them and teaches them himself. they would gather info that we need, if we know where they are, we can set traps and ambushes if we must. but then again mages could probably do the job too." the bear said sitting down and folding his thick arms over his massive chest.

Larsen stood up and nodded. "So it is decided. This is the plan we use. Mynerva and Scyler will accompany Johnathan on the scouting mission. If Johnathan were to be attacked, we could lose vital information. But with a Mage and a quick swordswoman, he will have decent prtection. The Swiftclaw siblings have uncanny speed equal to my own. This will allow them to easily keep the pace with Johnathan. Plus, if Mynerva is out in the field, she can choose the best spot for her traps. So, if these three are sent out to scout, then it will be more effective." He turned to Scyler and Mynerva and ordered, "Gear up, you two. You've got a mission for tonight."

Scyler and Mynerva stood, saluted, and ran to their respective rooms for their gear.
