i'm not saying a sanctuary makes you lose your life and stay in the sanctuary, but that sometimes, rarely but sometimes, it gives you the comfort to live the life you're living without really needing to change it. Haha, I almost did the same thing with my sister coming in, but I just left it open to make it seem like I wasn't hiding anything. I just told her it was a video game forum. (Luckily I was in that part of the forum.  )

i know, my mom will randomly walk in and see like the fourms open with like the fox icons and stuff she'll be like whats this, and usally i just say its just a game fourm or somthing i havent told her im a furry yet... :\

Well I wouldn't let it eat at anyone too much, definitely if you don't plan on telling them or any other certain people. I plan on just making way for freedom when I get to college; When I'm living in the dorm away from home, I'll be more interactive in the society of furs, maybe even a con (If there ARE any near Kansas/Missouri...), and it would make it seem less personal with me and my family - it could always just be another video game meet. I remember always going to Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon meets, haha. The good old days.

lol pokemon meets . but yea I use the family computer sometimes so my family's always walking by and looking at all the furry icons but they never say anything. I never tell them anything so they don't even bother. Don't ask don't tell, that's how I see things.

that's how it is with me. My family know quite a bit about me, but if they immediately think it's weird or strange, they dont ask. No point getting into an arguement where you'll just end up agreeing to disagree.

I dont keep it a secret, i sit out in public drawing furry art (clean type) and when people ask i explain. when they ask if thats like the wierd csi stuff, i say yes, but that is a minority of the fandom, and there is sex in all fandoms and all parts of life.

I wouldn't like to keep it a secret but unfortunately, when someone gets told something, someone else gets told something, usually with a lie which lead to assumptions. This is when I get called a perv and so it ends up with getting into an arguement, a few insults, then a round of punches. This has happened with me before and so the only way to avoid it is to just keep it a secret. I can't explain it to people I barely know without looking bad or being ashamed.

Yeah, dude. All you can really do is stand up to it. I WILL NOT burst into tears or take it like some chump. They want to fight, they'll get one. Because I won't take anything without a fight first.
