I'm pretty sure most people would try to explain, but those that dont just force people to find out via other means, which often leads to misconceptions.

Today, I told my girlfriend that i like furries, particularly that i'm attracted to furries (first time i've ever said that to anyone), but she doesnt have any idea about how deep down the rabbit hole I am. She hasnt a clue about any of this culture, about fursonas and things like that. I wonder when I will tell her. Eventually I'm sure I will.

yeah no one except you guys knows im a furry. Most people i know do know im a huge wolf fan but they don't know the the extent of that liking which really gets on my nerves. I dont know if i will ever tell about being a furry, because personally I don't want people to look at me different or as crazy. If I do tell anyone It will prolly be my best friends,parents,or girlfriend when I get one.

I mean, yeah thats cool, but at the same type he stereotyped being a fur as being a pervert right away!
I don't think ill tell any of my friends or family, because some of my friends are convinced that furs are creepy perverts They're not bad people, I guess its just sites like encyclopedia dramatica that influence them.

I dont think that many people actually believe encyclopedia dramatica. It's more stuff like the mainstream media, csi, youtube and something awful. Youtube isnt so bad though since you get both sides of the coin on there. Also, people like to talk about freaky things, so when they hear about something they think is freaky, they'll tell it to everyone they know. If it's told to them in a more reasonable way, then they dont feel the excitement of something juicy

My friends figured out I was a furry on their own recently. They don't really seem to care or look at me any different. I'm still invited to house paries, poker night, and everything. It's also funny because they constantly go on 4chan.
