Be all you can be, cus all you can be is yourself.

Being something else just doesnt work.
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

People see what you present. If you present yourself then they will see you and your furry leanings. What they do with that information is up to them, but the fact remains that they see you as who you are. Just as long as you present that.

Well you dont need to shout it from the rooftops, just be yourself and if someone catches on or asks you about it, then tell them. Just be comfortable.

By that I mean her rediculous comment was histerically funny to me. It was more entertaining than offensive IMO. XD

It's one of those things, I think, that is surrounded by a wrong sense of shame or fear, because of all the negative stereotypes around it, regardless of how people will actually take it.

I think, for me, it's sort of like being gay. Everyone knows, and I generally tell people if I feel the need\desire to, but still sometimes I feel nervous when I tell people because I know some people aren't too open about the idea. I still haven't told my Dad that I'm gay (or furry for that matter), even though I'm pretty sure he already knows and is perfectly okay with it. It's just one of those things, I guess.

I have been around people with very negative perceptions of furries. And, at the same time, I've been around people who I probably know would be fine with it. I've yet to tell anyone, though.

I can't quite say that I'm a furry, because I take the furry fandom in as like a hobby, and for fun. Even knowing that, it's still weird to tell anyone I'm like this. I'm not sure if it's just unexpected for everyone and I don't want to make a drastic change or what, but it's kind of irritating. People know me as a regular guy, and my closer friends and family know me as just a gaming metalhead. At times I convince myself it's completely fine to keep it to myself, but then I lay out the facts: There are absolutely no one like this where I live. Even if there was, it would be terribly difficult having to spot them out. Then I think "Okay, I can resolve the isolation with a con or something." Deus Problemo: One, I don't have a fursuit yet. I'm saving for the materials (hoping my craftsmanship doesn't stink... >_>) and everything, but it'll be a matter of time. Second, just getting there would cost money. And of course I'd have to explain to the parentals what the deal is. I guess that can be solved by moving out, but yeah... The last thing I really want to rant about is how "jealous" I am of others. I quote that because it's not an envy kind of jealous, but more of an idolistic kind of jealous. It looks like so much fun to have the friends in real life everyone has, dressing up for cons and just being generally silly. I really want that. I mean, sure, I can walk around in a fursuit and perform every day activities in public for kicks and giggles, but there's just that missing bit... I don't know how to resolve that. Except for devoting my life solely on this fandom, which I won't, I'm going into college for cinematography. Just a rant, I don't know how to really have anyone solve this. Sorry.  :(
This shall pass... Megalomania... Congratulations on mutilation for life.

UPDATE: Almost done with the mask!! Furred it all but the eye area, just gotta get to that and details like the nose and teeth. Now writing for new album!

Honestly I have the same problem. As far as I know there are no Furrys where I live, and I do have to keep it inside me, but that's not really a problem.

WE HAVE THE INTERNETZ PEOPLE!

I know that I first met my fellow furrys on Xbox Live. Do they live near me? No, but i can still stay connetcted and communicate with them as if they did live near me. The same for this website. Even if you are alone at home a site like this really makes you believe that you are not alone in the world and that there are other people with similar likes and interests.

I hope that this helps you rethink your view on things Scautty.
