« on: July 30, 2009, 06:20:12 PM »
today when I tried to get online  my computer said that windows didn't start up correctly, so I went through the repair sequence and it shut it down and started back up, once again windows vista is screwed up. Is anyone else having these problems.

the only problem i have is that 64-bit doesnt work. My brother hates vista though because he wants to do proper computer stuff. I just want to write, draw and play games.
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

My Scanner is to old for Vista. Vista told me they don't make drivers for my scanner. Other then that, my laptop with Vista on it is currently fried. *Shakes fist at HP*

You use Vista? You poor soul, I really pity you. In my time with Vista as my OS I've had more errors and problems than ever other OS I've used. (Ironically many of these issues worsened due to official Microsoft updates and things Microsoft recommended me to do.
If you have an old XP disk lying around I highly recommend "downgrading" (although I see XP as an upgrade myself :P) if you want a stable OS with less issues. If you're okay with Vista then stick with it, but I can't say I'd recommend Vista (or windows as a whole really) to anyone >.<

it came with my laptop, and I don't want to downgrade because I'm just to lazy to actually do it.

Fair enough. I was going to suggest that you dual boot but to each their own ^^

I'd had Vista since it was released and I've had no major issues with it at all.

Bah <_<
I expected better from you Tweak. You call yourself an admin and you're using a) Vista and b) Windows? :P

I use Vista on both my laptops, my home server runs Fedora and the dedicated server uses CentOS. I've used all the versions of Windows, MacOS and various Unix distros.

Windows has better compatibility with everything, it's easier to find drivers and for software to work on it as it's more widely supported because it has the major market share.

A valid argument and one I won't uselessly go against (although support is improving). At least your server is on Fedora, good choice if I may say so. Unix-based distros are still top dogs when it comes to servers and embedded systems.
But uh yeah...enough OS discussion, sorry everyone >.<
