Jay smiled softly, happy to see that something was accomplished in this meeting, he had gotten Kistrev to open up - now he could be sure he would be honest next time. He slides the note across the table discreetly, asking the waitress for the bill. He payed for both of them, finding a little slip of paper under the bill. He flashed a charming smile at the cute waitress and stood up. "Well it was nice seeing you again Kistrev, hopefully we'll bump into each other real soon." Donning his coat and fedora he makes his way out of the cafe, steadfastly ignoring Gambino as he walks by. Outside, the rabbit unfolds the pice of paper he'd found in the bill - the waitress had given him her phone number. He walks away from the coffee shop, whistling cheerfully to himself.

"huh? yeah, see ya round sometime comrade..."
He watched as the waitress smiled at Jay, he had only ever been given a glance by most girls... it probably came with having the demeanour of a dirty dockside cat... Kistrev read the note quickly under the guise of checking the local newspaper... throwing the newspaper back down after reading and understanding he walked out of the cafe, quite the opposite of Jay... He made his way back down to the the docks, feeling lonely and like a sack full of coal....

Spike glared at the two as they left, he threw the paper down on the table. He tossed down a few bills and some loose change that was found in the bottom of his pocket without counting and began to leave. He walked out of the coffee shop and looked down the road at Kitt before turning around to the one Kitt had just met. He narrowed his eyes and considered following. He wondered as the rabbit began to disappear. Spike decided against it instead and walked back to his car.

Jay hastily makes his way around the corner, feeling Gambino's eyes drilling into the back of his head. He felt himself extremely lucky that he hadn't been recognised, he was sure he had caught the fox's eye the other day, just after he'd seen Kistrev for the first time. Giving a sigh of relief at managing to remain anonymous for the moment, he patted his stomach, muttering, "Best in the city..." he really did like pie...

Jake stopped watching the loading of a coal truck and looked in surprise at Kistrev...

"whatchu mean lil bro? ah got you into this country.. dont be saying it was all fer nuffin now..."
Kistrev looked up at him and shook his head, his long feline ears swished side to side..

"naw, naw... ah can never repay ya fer gettin me into the country... but... i just wish..."
Kistrev sighed as he looked back up at Jake, a person he had always seen as his older brother, for when others hadnt been there...

"gawd Kistrev, all ya need is a special someone... a reason to get up in the mornings... a reason ta be makin the monay ya make.... looksee here, say i take you roun' some places, n' we find someone who dont mind the smell of salt eh? a nice lil' feline for my Emmigrant brother eh?"
Kistrev looked up at him, and grunted his approval before turning back to the coal truck..

"i bet ten cents they drop the next bag"

"yawr on..."

Spike tipped his hat as he picked up his briefcase and walked past his secretary's desk at the office. He walked down the long elegant hallway lined with brass, nickel, and copper towards the elevator. Spike waited after pressing the button. He checked his watch and calculated the time he had to grab something to eat and make it back in time for a conference. The iron bars of the elevator slid open and Spike stepped inside. The ride down was slow and quiet before the ring of the bell when the doors slid open to the main lobby. Guards stood off to the sides, smoking and cracking jokes, waving, saluting, and cheering out as Spike walked past to the main enterance.

Outside was as usual, people and furs walking driving and going about their daily business. Spike stepped off the curb when a black towncar sped up along side, the windows rolled down. Spike's eyes bulged as the barrels of Thomson machine guns stuck out from the windows. Spike dived for cover behind a parked car when the gunfire rang out. Bullets riddled the guards at the door and passing pedestrians. The sound of shattered glass and guns filled the crowded street. Spike waited until the echo of machinegun fire was replaced by screeching tires. Spike stood up, pulling out his Colt .45 and returned fire at the getaway car. The screaming and crying of women and children was piercing as the violence continued. A few shots through the back window caused the car to swerve off the road and crash into a streetlamp. The two men in the back seat struggled to get out of the car. Spike walked up beside the window on the driver's side, emptying the clip of his gun into the driver and the human in the passenger seat. He looked at the two furs in the back, both unconcious. Police sirens whailed in the distance. He looked back to the compound at two other guards running out of the building. He whistled and signaled to get the hitmen out of the backseat before the cops showed up.

"Shots fired - looks like mob activity kshzzzz..." As police radio rings through the car, Jay slammed on the breaks, turning the car around and speeding off to the scene. He opened the glove box, happy to see that today of all days he had remembered to bring his badge and had decided to bring both of his .45's. The rabbit hurried to te scene, grumbling quietly at the destruction of his peaceful day. Parking around the corner from the incident, he calmed down slightly, not hearing any gun-shots. Suddenly he heard the distinct sound of a clip being emptied rapidly and (what was more worrying) close by. He pocketed his badge and slipped his firearms into the double back holster.

The FBI agent took cover around the corner, peeking around to see what was going on. The first thing he saw was the crashed towncar wrapped around the streetlamp, looking to see where the shots came from he saw a retreating fox with a very familiar firearm still grasped in one paw. Ducking back around he walked over to his police radio, muttering to himelf, "Gambino, why can't I go a day without seeing you." Jay picked up the tranciever, "This is Agent Kaelin, we have confirmed mob activity, requesting backup immediately; it looks like there are confirmed dead but we'll need an ambulance aswell in case any survived." The rabbit turned, cocking both .45's and reholstering them, before going to inpect the wreckage of the towncar.

Spike holstered his weapon as he spotted the first police car on scene. He looked back as two of the hitmen were dragged around back of the building before the cop had seen. He walked over to the police car, slowing down as he saw who was exiting the vehicle. "Well I'll be damned." Spike muttered. He continued his way over to the approaching FBI agent. "That was fast." Spike commented. Outside the office, pedestrians and Spike's guards moaned and twitched on the ground among the dead as pools of blood covered the pavement.

Jay cringed inside, hoping fervently that Spike wouldn't recognise him from the meeting with Kistrev. He scans the scene, watching the blood spill slowly from the towncar. "I was in the area." the rabbit explains, "You mind telling me what's going on here?" He asks, as if speaking to a witness, not a suspect with a smoking gun (which he lets go for now as the clip was obviously empty).

The ten cents clinked into Kistrev's paw, as he watched with a smug grin, the two canines try and pick up all the dropped coal as the driver swore at them..
"Jeez Kistrev, you got a nack for these things..."
Kistrev surpressed a laugh as he looked back up at Jake..
"nah... you recognise sloppy work when ya been on the docks... i woulda thought an oooold dock-hound woulda known that!"
Kistrev nudged Jake in the side jokingly, and laughed at his expression of annoyance...

12:00 am

"No, he's just shy... umm... yeah.. no.... well, kinda... oh come one Kistrev.. you aint even gonna say hi?"
Jake was chatting to a young feline, the trio where standing on the dockside, and the view of newyork was unhampered by fog or darkness, a stunning sparkling landscape...
"yeah, yeah.... um, hi.."
Kistrev walked up from where he had been standing and smiled nervously at the feline, she swept her long ears out of her face and smiled back...

"Not at all, officer. I was heading out to lunch when outta nowhere, these wise guys here pull up and emptied their guns into the front of my office, didn't say nothin' just started shootin'! Nearly killed me too, I was able to take cover behind that car. They tried to get away and someone off the street had a cannon, started shootin' back, and got 'em both, they made off. I didn't see the whole thing though, I was busy hugging the pavement." Spike said, a little upset and narrowing his eyes. He recognized the rabbit from the cafe. Which made him suspect something about his informant. He could no longer be trusted.

'Officer, huh?' Jay thought with some relief, 'At least he doesn't realise I'm FBI... Did Callum really tell him so little about me?' The sound of more sirens became clear as the police cruisers turned the corner and officers, along with the ambulance, arrived at the scene. Two of the officers walked up to Jay and he waved them away for the moment, directing them and the paramedics towards the destroyed towncar.

The rabbit looked suspiciously at Gambino, "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to tell me your name and empty out your pockets." Jay nod meaningfully towards the pocket he had seen the fox stow the gun, now he could see what the under-boss would do when cornered.

Spike narrowed his eyes. He looked straight into the eyes of the FBI agent before he laughed. "The name's Gambino...Spike Gambino...And what makes you think you have the right to search me? I'm not under arrest. I know my rights and freedoms. I havent done anything wrong." Spike said. "Listen, I told you everything I saw and everything I did." The gun in Spike's pocket felt ten times lighter after what he'd done to the mobsters in the car. His backup .38 special in his left pocket seemed to feel heavier the longer he spent talking to the agent.

- meanwhile -

Paul and Frank pulled up in the car Spike told them to take on the fishing trip. They were stopped by a roadblock set up by police, Paul flashed the badge that had belonged to Callum before the police let them both through. "What the hell happened here?" Paul asked, watching the damaged caused by the drive by. Frankie stared on from the backseat. "Oh Jeez, it was probably the Romano's, a hit on Spike after the death of the don's son." Frankie said, looking around on the ground for the body of their boss. "I don't get it. Why Spike? Why not Angelo Lombardi?" Paul asked, driving around emergency crews. "Angelo's gotta be 98 years old, you honestly think that old man's got enough muscle to fire a bullet through a lion's skull?" Frankie replied. Paul looked away. "Guess not."

"Sir, we're going to need to get your statement down at the precinct." He cuts off any argument from the fox, "You're innocent right? Just empty your pockets and come with us for a quick trip down to the station to tell us what happened, on record. Unless you're not innocent," Jay inclines his head, "then you probably have something to hide."

His speech is interrupted by the arrival of an unknown car into the crime scene, "Morgan, Peterson," he calls over two officers, "check out that car, how did they get in here? This area is Police Only" He knew all of the FBI agents stationed in the city and the two occupants of the car weren't any of them, in addition to this, they weren't in any police uniform. They looked completely out of place in his crime scene.

Returning his attention to Gambino, he continues, "Let's make this simple Mr... Gambino, was it? Anyway, you can either come down to the station of your own free will as a witness or it will look like you have something to hide and you will come down to the precinct anyway, only this time, in handcuffs and as a suspect." His paws move to his back, standing at ease, his fingers brushing the grips of his sidearms - ready for any sudden moves despite his relaxed appearance. "So, Spike, what will it be?"

Spike sighed. "Fine." He emptied his pockets, pulling out his wallet, some loose change, the empty Colt .45 and his spare .38 special, placing them on the hood of his own car. "Happy?" He crossed his arms, waiting for Jay to make his move.
