Spike took another bite from a brownie and looked at the hospital door. "Gee...You really think so?" He asked, looking back at the rabbit. "I'm just a business man, Agent Kaelin. Life's tough in this economy after the war." He said, stuffing the remained of the brownie in his mouth and handing the tin containing the last one to Jay in offering. "Between you and I, I ain't never seen a Mark come in from Angelo." He whispered. "That's not the man Angelo usually sends. I'm a little unsure about him."

Jay turns down the brownie, "Business doesn't usually end up with a dead mafia don's son" he watches Spike for a reaction, "you know, funny thing about that particular case - Jimmy Romano was killed with a .38... I took a .38 Special off you earlier tonight, didn't I?" he doesn't wait for an answer, instead pointing towards the doorway, "But he is in your organisation, you do know him, right? Am I to expect trouble while I'm here?" his paw teases over the grip of one of the Colt's behind his back.

Spike stuffed the last brownie in his mouth and tossed the empty tin away into the trash across the room and chewed. "Business can end up with anything. That includes .38 specials being the most widely used weapon in the mafia." Spike chewed some more, looking away at the flowers. His ears pricking up. "...I don't know about hi- do you hear that?" Spike asked looking over the large metal vase before he spoke. "Look out in the hallway see if he's still there."

The rabbit looked at Spike suspiciously for a moment, but figured that he wasn't going anywhere. He tugged experimentally on the handcuffs for a second before going to peer around the corner. The specific .38 Special he had confiscated would be on it's way to the precinct at that moment, to be compared with the bullet found in Jimmy Romano's head. He gazes across the hallway, looking for the wolf...

"Is he there or not?" Spike asked, not expecting him to be there which wasn't good news.

Jay couldn't see the wolf anywhere, he turns and shakes his head at Spike. Brushing an ear away from his face, he was about to ask why the wolf would leave if he was left to 'babysit'; until a though struck him, that is. He slowly turns towards the large vase left by the wolf, pointing at it as if to ask Spike, 'You don't think that's a...'

A small drop of sweat broke from Spike's head. He looked at Jay, panic strewn across his face. "...Jay." He said, calling him by his first name. The light ticking continued from the inside of the hollow vase. Within it, a small pocketwatch ticked away strapped to 15 pounds of TNT. "...JAY!" Spike yelled.

Jay picks up the ticking, reacting immediately, he retrieves the key from his pocket and unlocks Spike's chains. Supporting the fox with his shoulder, he helped him out of the room, yelling to a doctor, "Get all of the patients out of here, now!" he fumbles for his badge, showing to the doctor so that no questions would be asked. The doctor dashes off, hopefully to clear out this section of the building; the lapine turns to Spike, "Can you move fast, or do I need to carry you?"

Spike couldn't believe what Jay had just asked. "...I BROKE MY LEG!" He replied. "There's no time for evacuation!" Spike yelled. He broke free of Jay's support before he hobbled back into the room. He pushed over the vase having it spill onto the floor. "Help me get that bomb out!" He yelled to Jay at the door. "We'll have a better chance to defuse it. If it's simple TNT, all we need to do is pull out the charging wire!"

"We need to get the people to safety, in case this does blow" he glares at the fox - of course he wouldn't think about the collateral damage this could do. He reached into the vase, delicately tugging out the bulk of the TNT. "You wouldn't happen to have bomb-defusing experience?" the rabbit had dealt with bombs in his time, but when the job was hasty, you had to be doubly careful, in case the timer was wrong  or the wiring was faulty and would set the bomb off anyway.

Spike pursed his lips in frustration. "Jay...Listen to me. I was a Private with the one hundred and first Airbourne. I dealt with this kind of thing before. You get those people out of here...I'll deal with the bomb." Spike said before he looked inside the vase, reaching an arm in and pulling out the long bundle of dynamite. He looked at the wires and timer, inspecting it carefully. "We have...2 minutes."

Jay took a short moment to think, he wasn't going to let Spike get away this time. A grin spread across his face and he nudged the bomb closer to the bed, "Great idea" he takes out the handcuffs and grabs Spike's wrist, chaining the fox to one of the legs of the bed. The bomb was easily within reach of even the handcuffed paw, "It didn't have to come to this, I'll get the patients and staff out and you... learn to not run away. And remember, this city doesn't want to have to pay for another hospital." With that, he left, organizing the exodus of the patients as they began to shuffle out of their rooms.

Spike was left behind chained to the bed. He felt something he hadn't felt in a long time. He wasn't sure whether to be upset, enraged, or completely calm. He actually took the time to ponder what it was exactly that he was feeling which had taken over his better judgement of caring whether he died or not. One thing was for sure, he wasn't letting Agent Kaelin get away with this one once he was free from his custody. He looked over the bomb with his one hand, inspecting the wires. He looked at the top of the stick and looked at the charging wire inserted into the top. He took his trembling hand - which shook from being so angry, and pulled the one wire out, flinching in the event the bomb went off. He was still alive, and more angry than ever. He clenched his jaw, his fangs digging into his own gums to the point where they bled. He continued to pull out the rest of the wires until he reached the last wire left, the clock still ticking away. He placed his hand over the top to pull it out but then released his grip. He would die and the damage done to the hospital would be blamed entirely on Jay by the mob for not watching over his suspect and ensure his safety while everyone else was evacuated. Jay would be held for murder and negligence after the investigation. It was a big price to play for a little revenge but he didn't care. He tossed the live bomb to the side next to him. 30 seconds remaining.

Jay hurries out of the front door of the building, anxiety eating away at his stomach as the patients file through and away from the immenent blast. He checks his pocketwatch, only 30 seconds left unless Spike was able to defuse it. The rabbit didn't really know what he hoped to achieve by this, he could either save the hospital or he could cut off the right arm of the Lombardi family... he was pleased either way - the bomb would destroy all evidence of his being there and Spike would be scattered to the winds. All blame would be placed on the Lombardi family, 'just another internal gang feud' - they had been the ones to plant the bomb after all. He would be the hero, following up on an informant's tip and clearing the hospital before the blast... a happy ending.

"What is love

Oh, baby don't hurt me

What is love "....

Kistrev and Jake had the Radio turned up loud, their singing stopped suddenly when turning the corner to the drive past the hospital they almost drove through a crowd of patients and hospital staff....
"woah! what the heck is goin on here?"
Music still playing from the car radio the pair jumped out the car staring in disbelief at the crowd of milling patients.... only one face was recognisable to Kistrv,  Jay the agent was among the crowd, flashing his badge as he went....

((ignore the fact that that music wasnt out in 1946... i just had to  ^_^ ))
