Shiro grinned. they had a sly one.
"More like rescued you, and wondering why you needed rescuing... anyhow, it's not like you have a choice, right?"

Kitt sighed, hanging up the receiver at his end he stood up and looked about the small apartment... it was still rather bare, with the walls unpainted and what furniture he had at the old apartment barely filling up any space at all... Despite this he smiled, if only his cousin could see him now... owner of a home, beauty of a girl, fraternisin' with gangsters... Smirking he walked past the small balcony and to the bathroom, pushing the door open a sudden shriek made him jump...
"KITT! What the devil you doin' in here?"
He stopped and laughed... he'd forgotten about Jesse going to have a bath... "Oh you know... just comin' to have a bath Jess..." Winking he shrugged off his jacket and closed the door behind him... things where seeming to only get better...

"If you must know, a past relation of mine named Falder interrupted me while I was having fun in a bar, he trie to kidnap me before you came, saying that he was my daughter's sire and he wanted her back. He said he'd already taken her as well." The squirrel rolled her eyes, blowing out a tuft of jasmine-flavored smoke. "You gonna force me to hang any more of my personal problems out to dry?"

He grinned
"Not unless you have some sudden urge to do so, at least to me. Although, i have been told that i listen well. I am an understanding fox."
He slipped a flask and drank from it, then returned it to his jacket, only slightly, not intentionally, showing off the sawed off he had hanging in his jacket.
"Well then, if you don't need any help, and don't have any qualms with any of us, then i will just check with my boss real fast and see if we need to keep you here any longer."
He stood up and waited for Mr. Gambino to get off the phone.

Just as the conversation between Sacha and Shiro had ended, Spike opened the door and walked in. He smiled and looked at the squirrel sitting down in the seat before him and he smiled, tipping his pinstripe hat in greeting. "Sorry, ma'am, about..." he waved his hand around in the air, "all this." The grin kept plastered onto his face as he took a seat on a chair next to the door. "I don't believe we've formally introduced yet. My name is Spike Gambino." He said before taking another puff of his cigar and looking at her with narrowed eyes. "That's Paul and Frankie." He said gesturing to the wolf and tiger goons standing behind her. "Now that you're comfortable with all our names, I'll tell you that if you can make your story interesting and believable, Paul won't have to cut ya to pieces and Frankie won't have to fit ya into some garbage bags." The fox leaned back in his chair with the smile erased from his face. "What's your name and what's ye'r business?"

Shiro twitched out of sight of Paul, Frankie, and the Boss. The one thing that he didn't like about the Boss was that he was too quick to use threats. Shure, they COULD make her disappear off the face of the earth, but still... was it necessary? No it wasn't.
He sighed inwardly, and hoped the squirrel knew what she was doing.

"So Kitt... you really aint minding t'at my mother wants to see you... It's not like she could stop us being together... she just wants the best for me i guess..." Kitt shrugged nonchalantly... "I guess... I aint too comfortable with it really... but for you i'l do it..."
With that he stood and and reach for his jacket, leaving Jesse sittting on the bed with a towel wrapped round her... "Where you think your going mister? .. That 'Mister Gambino' Bloke Tol' you to lay low..."
Kitt shrugged again, frowning slightly "I'm just posting some money back to the family... And Mr.Gambino aint a bad guy Jess.." She frowned, wrapping the towel tighter around herself... "Sure if you say so... well you be quick about posting the money then... i dont want you in any more trouble than you are.."

Shaking his head Kitt stepped out of the apartment door and started to walk down the stairwell... Mr.Gambino wasnt a bad bad guy... he'd done him good and without the Boss he would still be workin' crappy shifts every day n' night... Sighing he stepped out of the apartment onto the river-side street and started off towards the post office...

This time around she didn't bat her eyelashes. No, this time Sasha's purple-dusted eyes stared dead ahead, coldly. Her sequined dress sparkled slightly in the dim light. Carefully, she said: "I already told him what happened...what more do you need from me? Specifics, please." Sure she was still being cocky as hell, but the tremor in her voice betrayed her fear....

Spike's eyes shifted from the squirrel to Shiro. He pressed out his cigar under his black loafer and huffed. "Shiro, do you think you could fill me in since she has an issue with repeating herself?"

Outside in the street, a black car had pulled up to the curb. The driver side door opened and the leg of a familiar vixen had stepped out onto the wet cement. Spike's wife closed the door behind herself once she stepped out and looked up and down the street. Eve looked back inside the car and told both little Daniel and Jake that she'd be back in a minute and to wait patiently while she went to find their father. They both nodded their little heads and Even closed the door. He crossed the street and opened the door to the bar where she was met with the smell of smoke and liquor. Old men looked up from their drinks and stared. Eve stood nervously for a moment before making her way over to the bar and its tender. "Hello, I'm looking for my husband, Spike. Have you seen him?" The men who'd been staring quickly dropped their attention. The bar tender nodded his head in the direction of the back room. Eve looked towards the back and thanked him. Just as she made her way to the back a big wolf stepped in front of her. He was dressed in black suit similar to Spike's but without the pinstripe pattern. "Mrs. Gambino, what an unexpected pleasure to see you. What can I do for you?" Eve looked into his eyes and flicked her red and white tail. "Get Spike for me." The wolf nodded. "Please wait here. I'll get him for ya."

"She told me she was having family issues... but i don't think i got the whole story." Shiro said. His ear twitched back and picked up the voice of Mrs. Gambino coming in.
"Sir if you wouldn't mind, if i could ask a few more questions of the squirrel... your wife is here." he said, nodding back over his shoulder.

Kitt walked along beside the river's bank, seagulls screeched and the occasional dull drone of ship horns filled the air... The sidewalks where thick with people, and the roads themselves where even thicker with cars and trucks... Weaving between the people Kitt reached the post-office and just as he was about to throw his mail into the letter-box someone clapped an arm around his shoulder...
"Kitt! Yah lil' skipper, where you bin' hidin'?"

Kitt literally jumped in surprise, almost knocking a pedestrian into the road, he turned to face the dark furred wolf.... "Jake... uh, Hi.... What you doing here? I woulda thought you'd be at the docks..." Jake laughed, embracing Kitt in a strong, one-armed hug... "Jus' walkin' down the river... You gotta nice view down here buddy... that apartment of yours is pretty swank, eh?"

Kitt smirked, scuffing the sidewalk with his boot "Yeeah... we're still payin' it off, but its gettin' there.... And i've been, erm.. ill... but i'l be back at the docks soon..."

Jake looked closely into Kitt's eyes, before shrugging and letting him go... "Sure... you jus' get stuff sorted at your new home first... sheesh, my lil' Kitt is growin up eh?" Kitt laughed too, throwing the letter into the mail box... "Growin' up too fast for my liking mate..."

Sacha wondered whether she should do it...pull her gun out from its hiding place between her bazooms, but if she so much as accidentally made a wrong move towards it, Spike might guess what her intentions were, and he might also guess she had a concealed weapon....at the least, she knew she had to do something. Her daughter was what was at stake here. Any other child, and the woman wouldn't have given a flying rat's @&%*, but this was hers, her property, her muse.

She refused to cooperate by repeating herself yet again....what exactly did they want her to say anyway....she'd said what was going on several times now, bluntly and to the point at that, and so she simply kept her lips zipped, casting a pleading look at both Spike and Shiro, hoping the former would indeed leave to see his wife. She rested her free paw gently on her stomach, close enough to go for her gun be she need to, but far enough away that it wasn't too suspicious....

The Squirrel was acting fidgety, refusing to talk about why she was being kidnapped. Charlie, the rat, was waving at him from the back room and Shiro motioned he join him.. He came out with a file, and whispered into Shiro's ear.
"I got photos... her name is Sacha... i am still rooting through files, but i think i may be able to find something... I vaguely remmeber something about her having a daughter... source of the family issues?"
"Thanks charlie... i don't think she is telling us everything..." he whispered back to Charlie, and he retreated into the back room. He turned back to the Squirrel.
"So, Sacha... it is Sacha, isn't it... we would like to know everything... i don't think you are being completely honest with us. If you have something to hide, what better place to keep it secret? Anyways, it seems by the look of the family that abducted you, we have the same enemies. An enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine, you know. So what is the matter?"

Sacha listened to him when he came back, huffing on her cigarette....but when he brought up something about being a friend, she was caught by surprise and ended up choking on that same cigarette, coughing and wheezing smoke..."You mean you'd.....*cough*...nevermind," She gave him a more serious look now. "My name is Sacha Derterani. I work for the Morettis as a child-rearer...I am the one who runs most of those sweatshops, and I'm also the one who steals most of the children we bring to work there in the first place. I am a free spirit if you will, and I have a daughter named Lucky, from an unknown father. Most of the time I live a happy life." She hesitated, hoping that spilling her guts wouldn't get her in even deeper trouble. "Today I go out to the bar hoping to meet a nice man or two, and a svelte rabbit calling himself Falder introduces himself to me. But..that didn't last very long. He says he needs to take me somewhere and brings out a gun. He says he sent his goons after my daughter and I fear for her life, so I go with him. Then, when I get in the car, he says he's the father of my child and he wants her back. I do not believe a word of it, but you never know. Then you show up and shoot them down, kidnap me yourself. My daughter still is missing."

She batted her eyelashes for about the zillionth time. "That is it. That is the whole story, the story of me, there is nothing more to it than that. I hide nothing. Zilch. And what of you?" she asked. "Who are all of you? And how can I be sure you're my friend?" She was a bit confused, and felt she should know these men, but it wasn't coming to her at the moment.

Jake followed Kitt as he started to walk back to the apartment... "Hey Kitt! Why dont ya come with me t' see the fight.. should be startin' in ten minutes.... real good one comin' up... that weasel by the name of Karenski and Terrano the fox.... should be a real smasher to watch, an' i got a bet runnin' on Terrano that could land me in some good money, eh?"

Kitt looked sidelong at Jake, his rather too long dark hair, his salt-stained leather jacket and the slight bulge that indicated a revolver in his trousers... he thought to Jesse, waiting worriedly in the apartment.... a fine sea-spray washed over from the river, spattering the road as they walked... "Yeah... yeah i'l come with'... but only fer' the fight... after that i gotta get back to Jesse...."

Jake punched the air in celebration, grabbing Kitt by the shoulder and steering him left towards an alleyway... "C'mon... we got five minutes or so till' they start!"

---------------------

Eight minutes later and they where amidst a jostling crowd of Romanos... The small underground room was full to bursting with dockworkers, and in the centre of a ring two fighters slogged it out... Both where bare-chested, and heaving with sweat by now as the fox, the smaller of the two, ducked below a swing and drove several fast kicks into the ferret's stomach...
"C'mon! Slog 'im again!" Jake shouted with the rest of the crowd, while those betting on Karenski the ferret shouted insults and booed... Kitt leaned against the side of the ring beside Jake, and took it all in with a feeling of lust... this was what he had been missing...
"Smash his face! Left n' right then in the gut Terrano!"
