Jay waited for Kistrev to get to the front entrance of the dockyards, leaning his back against the wall, his fedora tipped to shade his eyes. He didn’t have to wait long, soon enough, the cat walked past Jay. Jay, walked towards the cat, quoting the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Before the cat could respond. he continued, “If Gambino finds out that I’ve talked to you, you’ll be back in Slovakia before you can say ‘deported’.” He just kept smiling the whole time, as if he hadn’t just threatened to destroy the guy’s livelihood.
He tips his hat to Kristev, “You will be hearing from me again.” With that he leaves, walking briskly through the cold New York morning.
