I don't know if it'll go that far, but I do feel the notion of the companies joining is bad because I fear since the heroes themselves are "kids classics" nowadays, they'll take advantage of that and try dumbing it down a bit more for the younger generation.. Or use the heroes for some dumb ploy for stuff like "Spiderman likes to brush his teeth, you should TOOOO"! It was just the way the story came across ha gives me that impression because they were like, "Disney buys out Marvel giving it complete access to it's LARGE VAULT OF CHARACTERS" which translates to me as, "Oooo, shiney new toys to mess up." @u@

I dunno, maybe it's just because I'm a hardcore Marvel fan, and I love to read comics. I just fear for the plots and things that are already good getting scrapped. I mean, my dream job was to work as a writer / illustrator for Marvel.. I'm not so sure now.

So I'll probably never hear from the Punisher again. I can't see Disney creating such a dark mood for it's audiences and so far, the most hardcore movie I've seen out of them was the Alamo and even that sucked. Pirates of the Carribean wasn't bad but nowhere near as epic as the first and second Punisher movies. Disney throwing a guy into a glass recycler? Don't think so.

Mary Jane Watson will get replaced by Hannah Montana.

I hope they don't make Spiderman and Hannah Montana partner up or something.

Hannah Montana = The new Mary Jane Watson

Hmm... I wonder how many people in the world are saying this? I mean, us three just like said the same things.

I think that Disney's main motivation is the success of Marvel. I doubt they'll get rid of writers (unfortunately for Amazing Spider-man fans, Joe Quesada will probably keep his job) who are writing stories that are selling well. The worst they can do is ditch the darker stories, but some of those are just...really bad.

Plus, for Kingdom Hearts fans, what wouldn't be surreal-ly awesome about fighting alongside Spidey or the Punisher?

Disney didn't exactly flaunt it as if it were a shiny new toy to play with when they bought Miramax either.
That's because kids love Marvel and it isnt contrary to disney style franchises.

umm... dont they already do that?

So I'll probably never hear from the Punisher again
Punisher is popular, Disney aren't stupid.
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

I mean more so with ridiculous things. I think they only used it for things like teaching kids to stay away from strangers, which is understandable because they are superheroes. But as a whole, I can agree with Spike. There's more than just the Punisher, and I fear they'll do away with most of the darker stories.

Not all of them are bad.. Honestly considering Kingdom Hearts, that just seems odd given all the other characters, but that's just my opinion.

Well I see no reason to expect that from Disney. They havent done it before, so it's unlikely that they would do it now.

Not toothpaste, lawd. I meant like those little inserts in comics. I know he has toothpaste and bubble bath and god knows what else.

I don't think it'll be as bad as some people think it will. You have to remember that disney has produced Pirates which was rated PG-13 and they are amking Prince of Persia the movie, which if it's like the game will be at least PG-13 as well. Disney isn't much afraid of making movies that are good for the whole family. i little comic book blood won't hold disney bakc. remember the guy getting his eyes picked out in pirates? they're not fully family oriented. they want stuff for all audiences

I still remember the day I found out about this, I told my Marvel friend who buys all kinds of comic books about this and he almost cried because he doesn't want to see all the good movies go away x.x. I don't know why Marvel would just sell out like that, I mean they are so successful, it's just hard to fathom their logic for this.

I really do think people are over-reacting. It is likely that disney will not interfere, just as they have done with their other acquisitions, including miramax who make strictly adult movies.

They probably wont interfere, they know marvel are successful, they know Marvel know what they're doing. All this is is funding for one, and revenue for the other. Marvel get more money to make better films and games, Disney get money from the success of these films and games. It's a win-win situation... probably.
