It follows the ancient chinese story of  the day when Budda threw a great feast to celebrate the new year and he invited all the animals of the world to come to the feast, only 12 showed up and to honor them he gave them each a zodiac year. Each one represents your personality if your born under it and defines your characteristics.

I believe what Rhak means is that though the zodiac is fun to look at, and have a giggle about (cause honestly, it really is vague enough to fit everyone, yet specific enough to make people laugh when it resembles them at all), it does come from a story about Budda. Now, I'm Christian, and I don't find this sacreligious or against the faith to have some amusement from it, but it is from Buddism nonetheless. Which; I guess, is why some people who are Christians think it's bad.

**I don't want to spark a debate here! I didn't say anything in the previous paragraph about it being wrong, or state anything offensive! I don't want to bring up the religious thing again, but I just wanted to clarify why Rhak prolly doesn't like it.**

I think they are fun to look at, and the artwork on them is always amazing!  :peace:
Just like fortune cookies, it's the same concept, and they are fun, too.  :snicker:

well origins aside, its not religion in any way or form its culture. if you wanted to avoid all cultural backgrounds with relgious roots then you'd have to avoid anime (invented by a japanese doctor that made a cartoon to celebrate the day budda formed the island of japan), wine (made my monks while storing lots of jugs of grape juice), and halloween (pegan holiday to celebrate all hollows eve). christianity isn't exactly a single religion either considering there are 7 forms of it lol. think that Jesus would say avoid valentines day cause it had to do with the greek gods? our zodiac in the US is based on the greek gods to as constialtions in the sky each has its own set of stars which is supposta guide your life. and no chinese zodiac is NOT like the normal zodiac, it doesn't predict your future it only tells your personality trates and they are very specific trates not generalized you can't match one to the other for exactness they are each sererated by a destinct over all image.

I am a dragon- trustworthy and skilled are my good trats, controlling and self centered are my bad trats
As i mentioned an Ox- iron will and hard workers are the good trats, vanity and very stuborn is the bad trats
horse- caring and passionate good trats, easy to anger and fickled in romance are bad trats
each has trats that set them apart from the others and fit to the person that the sign belongs to.
so in a sense your not worshoping budda or acknologing the religion your looking  up your animal host according to the cultural beleif that your trats match that animal.

*Points to previous post.*

As I said... That's just how some Christians believe. I didn't say right, or wrong, and I was just trying to explain why perhaps Rhak doesn't like the Zodiac.

I wasn't refering to the Zodiac telling the future. What I meant by "the same concept" is that they are vague enough to apply to everyone, but specific enough for people to apply them to their specific situation. I know what the zodiac is.  :snicker:

Again, I didn't say what's right or wrong, cause I didn't want to get into a big ol' debate aboot it.  I think they're fun to look at, but I wouldn't take them to heart. That; however, is just me. There are those who will not take part in Hallows Eve, or use the Zodiac, or other "pagan" holidays. That's fine for them, it's not like they're offending anyone by sitting out, but I get what you mean about just participating doesn't mean you are worshipping. I agree with that, to an extent and dependent on the circustances.

I think it's fun to look at the Zodiac, doesn't mean you have to believe what it says "about you", just fun to look at. Sometimes they are spot on, sometimes not. Like meh, I would better fit the Ox, but I'm a Dragon. Though, I share lots in common with most of the zodiac, cause they are all traits we all have! Anywho, it's fun to look at!

Another fun thing to do with it? Look at who it says to avoid! XD Lots of times, it says you will clash with other zodiac symbols that people in your family have! Teehee, me and my dad fight like.. well.. Dragons and Dogs!
